Notes: For a long time I have been looking for information on Will but I think that I have now made a breakthrough that may lead to other members of his family. He was born on 16 Sep 1874 and is recorded as living with his parents in 1881. As yet I have been unable to locate him in the 1891 or 1901 censuses but he could well have been working away from home. He married Thirza Shorter in the Tonbridge district in the Dec Qtr of 1903. I have found a death record for his son, also William Lutener who was born in Canada on 6 Sep 1905 and died in San Diego California on 21 Dec 1992. His mother’s maiden name confirms the relationship. This death record means that I can get a copy of his US Social Security pension application which should lead to finding other members of the family. This means that Will and Thirza must have emigrated to Canada in 1904 or early 1905. They eventually settled in Vancouver, British Columbia, and I believe that Will and my grandmother, Florence, were very close as they continued to correspond regularly right up until she died in 1952 and I can recall Dad writing to him after that to pass on the sad news. From a British Columbia Births, Deaths and Marriages website I have established that Will died at New Westminster, Vancouver on 2 Mar 1953 and Thirza at Port Coquitlan on 25 Mar 1962.
From the Commonwealth War Graves Commission I have established that Will Jnr had a son, Pilot Officer George James Langridge RCAF, who was shot down over Germany in April 1944 and is buried in Durnbach War Cemetery near Munich. His Next of Kin is given as his parents, William Lutener and Elizabeth M Langridge of 587 Lansdowne Ave, Toronto, Ontario. This was my original breakthrough and my research continues.
