Born at Sussex - Fletching(Originally: Unknown - Fletching) (1861 Census)
Christened 27 May 1848
Father: William Lutener Langridge
Mother: Mary Funnell
Notes: George, the youngest of the family, was born at Fletching about 1848 and apart from the 1851 and 1861 censuses where he was a boy living at home with his family, for a long time I could find no further information about him. This had me puzzled until early in 2005 when I was browsing genealogy sites on the internet when I discovered a reference to all members of the family on a US family history website. Further investigation revealed that the information had been submitted by a researcher in Alberta, Canada who was descended from George who had emigrated to Canada around 1870, the first of the family to do so. Reference to the 1881 and 1901 Canadian Census located the family in Toronto. There is no doubt that this is the right family as names such as William Lutener and Carline and others are repeated down through the Canadian generations.
This led to identifying George’s wife’s name as Eliza Anne and from this I was able to find a marriage record to Eliza Anne Long in the Wandsworth district in the Dec Qtr of 1869. It seems that they must have left for Canada almost immediately after the wedding as their eldest daughter was born in Toronto in 1870. full details of this family are shon on the Canada Families chart.
