Notes: Carline was born in 1839 at Fletching and never married but always lived at home with her parents. She seemed to spend a lot of her time looking after her nieces and nephews who seem to have spent a lot of their time staying with their grandparents at Rock Cottage. The 1871,1881 and 1891 censuses all show grandchildren staying there. On the death of her mother in 1885 Carline became housekeeper to her father and she cared for him until his death in 1901. After his death her sister in law Isabella whose family by this time had all left home. Carline died on 3 Jan 1918 and is buried in the family plot at the Church in the Wood. Isabella meanwhile had died in Apr 1917. Rock Cottage then became the property of Isabella’s eldest son, Arthur Langridge.
My father always spoke very fondly of Aunt Carline who I think was his favourite aunt and as a boy he spent many happy holidays at Rock Cottage.
